Sihlobo Bukhosi Moyo (b. 1992) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist born to a Ndebele father and a Sotho mother. Growing up surrounded by diverse traditions and visual cultures, his early creative explorations—from sketching with charcoal from his grandmother’s fireplace to sculpting clay while herding cattle—shaped his understanding of art as a language of identity and belonging. His practice bridges traditional and contemporary forms, drawing from his background in Art and Design studies (2018–2022) to master mediums such as charcoal, paint, pottery, and fabric.
Moyo’s work delves into the emotional “veils” people wear, revealing quiet struggles, resilience, and hope through layered, introspective compositions. His evocative charcoal pieces have earned recognition, including two PRACA Art Awards and a feature in The Chronicles. Having exhibited at platforms like Salon Vanguard and Contra Joburg, Moyo continues to create from South Africa, merging craftsmanship and storytelling to reflect the shared complexities and beauty of the human experience.
